In a world where we are constantly faced with new information, our brains create filters to decide what’s important (and requires action), and what’s not (and can be ignored).
So how do we do this? What questions are we asking ourselves when we meet others or hear a new idea?
Do you care about me as a person?
People want to know that their challenges, concerns, preferences and desires are being respected. Do you genuinely care about others? Is their well-being important? What actions do you take? Words are cheap – if you care, do something to show it.
Can you help me solve my problem?
If you are working in a service industry, what pain, problem or consequence can you remove for your clients? Can they trust you?
Are you any good?
Our clients want to get somewhere and they want to know you have their back. Do you have a commitment to completion and being excellent at what you do? Can you set the example for others? Will you have a positive impact on their lives?
Can you answer yes to all three?
